Staff Development

A Code of Ethics for Tennessee Extension Workers

Professional and personal ethics have captured news headlines recently. Ethics breakdowns among prominant individuals in government and industry has lead to a renewed emphasis on organizational values and ethical practices. A Code of Ethics for Tennessee Extension Workers  was developed many years ago but is still pertinent to our work today.

Forms for HR128 Training Credit

The human resources policy, HR 128, provides for each UT employee to receive a minimum of 32 hours of training annually. Links to further information and credit forms are provided below. Extension forms should be processed through normal administrative channels and sent to Extension Evaluation & Staff Development rather than directly to Employee & Organizational Development. Please contact Herb Byrd if you have questions.

  • We are now able to use a spreadsheet to capture course information and the class roster for Synchronous Online Training (an example would be training delivered via Centra). Two tabs of the spreadsheet should be completed and emailed to Herb Byrd. One tab has course information and the other a training roster including UT Personnel Number and Name. An agenda should also be attached to the email -or- a hard copy should be provided. Online Training Credit Spreadsheet  (For Synchronous Online Training, FACILITATOR USE ONLY)
  • Professional Development Plans

Each Extension faculty and staff member benefits from planned professional development. Individual professional development plans should be completed within a new employee's first year. It should then be evaluated annually and discussed as part of performance appraisal for needed updates and revisions. The Professional Development Plan is a required component of promotion dossiers. (We recommend that if you use a WordPerfect or Word file, right-click on the link below and select the option "save target as" to save to your local computer.)
